Joy Harris is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is also working towards a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology degree. Joy earned a Bachelors in Psychology degree from Carlow University in 2008 and a Master of Social Work degree in 2012 from The University of Pittsburgh. Joy has over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, in a variety of settings, such as residential, outpatient, virtual, and in-home services. Joy has also worked with a variety of populations, such as children, adolescents, adults,families, and groups. Joy's specific interests and strengths include working with individuals with IDD diagnoses, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety, depression, social skills concerns, self-confidence concerns, a history of trauma, and OCD. Joy's primary focus is building a strong and positive therapeutic relationship based on respect, acceptance, validation, and empowerment of the individual. Joy believes that therapy should be a place of safety and comfort where one has the ability to identify their own goals and the desired direction of their own treatment. Joy utilizes a variety of approaches to support individuals in reaching their goals, including CBT, DBT, Psychodynamic, behavior therapy, positive psychology, reality therapy, compassion focused therapy, and a holistic approach - with the one constant being that therapy is always client centered and tailored to the individual's needs.
