What To Expect From Therapy At CBI

Psychotherapy includes many approaches, models, and perspectives on how someone achieves change in their life. Several well-known psychotherapies are individual therapy, couples or marriage therapy, and family therapy. Each type focuses on specific aspects in a person’s life that create and/or prevent change.

According to the American Psychological Association (2017), psychotherapy involves conversations that are different from simply talking to a friend, such as having access to a professional who understands psychological problems and formally commits to assisting the client with agreed upon goals. Individual therapy can include a generally supportive approach or Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT).

Couples/Marriage therapy might utilize a Gottman Method approach. Family therapy also involves a spectrum of models, which focus on family-of-origin or attachment styles. Knowing the range of options available to you can feel overwhelming. Our staff are ready to assist you with learning more and scheduling an appointment to discover the best fit for you!
