About Cristina Trout

Cristina Trout MA, LPC/LCMHC is a licensed professional counselor and licensed clinical mental health counselor at Cognitive Behavior Institute. She has her Master’s of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Geneva College. She has over 5 years of experience in outpatient drug and alcohol treatment and co-occurring mental health disorders. Cristina also has over 7 years in mental health private practice experience.
Cristina works with adolescents 16 and up, adults, couples, and families to address and assist in their mental health needs. Cristina utilizes a client-centered approach by meeting the needs of the client; and working with them on finding ways to regain a healthy lifestyle. She is passionate about creating a safe environment where clients can share and feel heard, as well as gain education and resources that can help them succeed and heal from the past. Cristina uses and has been trained in evidence based therapeutic approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Gottman method, and is certified in Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (EXRP). She has experience in addictions, trauma/PTSD, grief, OCD, ADHD, general anxiety, post-partum, panic disorder, anger management, depression, adjustment disorder, affair recovery, family/couple and relational conflict. Finding emotional health can be challenging, but Cristina believes that working together collaboratively with the client(s) can make all the difference; to know they are not alone. She will help the client(s) to find healthy coping skills, personal strengths and realistic solutions that will improve their daily life and wellbeing.
