About Dr. Jonathan Impellizzeri

Dr. Jonathan Impellizzeri, also known as “Dr. J,” specializes in helping couples and families create meaningful and lasting change. His approach begins with seeing the best in people and relationships while being honest about the patterns that need to change. He brings a steady, supportive presence to therapy along with a willingness to challenge clients, address difficult issues directly, and help turn insight into concrete change.

Dr. J is a Certified Gottman Therapist with extensive advanced training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). He works with couples and families experiencing chronic conflict, emotional distance, infidelity and trust injuries, parenting differences, trauma, grief and loss, faith-related concerns, and major life transitions. He also offers extended and intensive couples therapy for those who want more concentrated work.

His approach is also feedback-informed. Rather than assuming that one model or style works for everyone, Dr. J pays close attention to what is actually helping each couple/family and adjusts the pace, approach, and balance of support and challenge accordingly. His goal is therapy that is compassionate but not passive, challenging without being judgmental, and flexible enough to fit the unique ways couples and families change.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. J serves as Chief Clinical Officer of Cognitive Behavior Institute, where he provides clinical leadership, supervision, consultation, and training to CBI's multidisciplinary team.
