About Sarah Clayton

Sarah Clayton, LCSW is a Clinical Supervisor and Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Cognitive Behavior Institute. She completed her undergraduate degree at Oberlin College and her Masters in Social Work from University of Pittsburgh. She has over 30 years of experience supporting individuals as they navigate life’s challenges, relationships, and periods of change.

Sarah provides evidence-based, compassionate therapy for adults experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, and other concerns that impact their well-being and ability to live the life they want. She is committed to providing LGBTQ+ affirming therapy and creating a space where clients of all identities and backgrounds feel respected, heard, and accepted.

A central part of Sarah’s therapeutic approach is Internal Family Systems (IFS). She is a Level 1 trained IFS therapist and uses IFS to help clients approach themselves and their experiences with curiosity, compassion, and greater understanding. Sarah also has extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which she integrates according to each client’s individual needs and goals.

Sarah’s therapeutic style is warm, genuine, and collaborative. She believes therapy is most meaningful when clients feel truly heard, understood, and supported. She works collaboratively with each client to build on their strengths, deepen self-understanding, and develop new ways of navigating life’s challenges.
